Short North Bagel Deli

Short North Bagel Deli opened in 2011, as a food cart serving steamed deli sandwiches using Block's Bagels in downtown Columbus.

Their original plan was to open a brick and mortar deli in the Short North (hence the name), but after determining start up costs and risk would be too high, the owner, Jeremy started a food cart to test the market and gain experience.

Since opening in 2011, he has added a food truck, breakfast and lunch services inside Nationwide Insurance offices, and also operates concessions stands inside Ohio Stadium and the Schottenstien Center. In February of 2017 Jeremy purchased the licensing rights to Block's Bagels (a Columbus institution which opened in 1967) and opened his first brick and mortar just outside of Bexley using the the namesake Block's Bagels.

Jeremy is a natural fit for the high energy, fast paced environment being in the food service demands and has plans to continue to grow both Short North Bagel Deli as well as the opening more Block's Bagels locations around Columbus.

What is your favorite thing about being a local business in Columbus?

I’ve always wanted to own my own business, in high school I was a bus boy at an Italian restaurant and fell in love with the fast past, action packed environment. From then on I knew I wanted to be in the restaurant industry. The concept of steamed deli sandwiches on bagels was based off a poplar Bagel and Deli I frequented during College at Butler University (think Bagel and Deli at Miami U or Beckman’s Bagels at Ohio State Campus). People in Columbus truly support local entrepreneurs, it truly is a community that supports local business’s and will go out of their way to see that we succeed.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the fan experience at Ohio State?

The passion. Being raised in Columbus I know the passion we feel for the Buckeyes, words can’t describe how lucky I feel to be a part of the fan experience at Ohio State

Share one fun thing people may not know about your company.

Although I knew I always wanted to be in the restaurant industry, I moved back to Columbus after graduation College and took a job at a local internet company. One day, a friend of mine who had visited me at Butler University and went with me to the same Bagel Shop that my business is modeled off of, texted me and said “Dude, you should start a bagel deli in Columbus” …Short North Bagel Deli was born!
